The Health Dangers of cleaning with ​Hydrochloric Acid (Hydrogen Chloride)

Hydrochloric acid in its concentrated liquid form has a very strong irritating smell and is very

corrosive. Hydrochloric acid is hazardous and corrosive to eyes, skin and Mucous membranes,

even just short term exposure and inhalation can cause eye, nose, respiratory tract

inflammation and irritation. But it doesn’t end there. It can also cause chemical burns when you

come into contact with it and can damage your eyes and cause blindness if even the slightest

bit gets into your eyes.

That’s just some of the short term effects. Still not convinced and still going to reach for the acid

to clean your truck?

Ok how about the long term effects?

Long term exposure to Hydrochloric Acid is known to cause gastritis, bronchitis, dermatitis and

photosensitization and worst of all fluid on your lungs. When i say Long term affects effects that’s just after 15 minutes of use.

According to Safework Australia the exposure limit is a 15 minute window and must not be

repeated more than four times a day during an 8 hour working period. There must be a

minimum of 60 minutes between each 15 minute window of use. Your truck will take more than

15 minutes to clean right? You do the math.

So will you still continue to put your health at rizk and use Acid to clean your concrete truck?

Then I hate to say it but you’re stuck in the old days and stuck using old cleaning practices!

Get up to date. There is no need to use Acid anymore and put your health at risk.
